Welcome to your Luteal Phase! The Luteal Phase starts after ovulation and lasts about 11-14 days. This phase is the Autumn of your cycle. Your hormone levels are gradually lowering from their peak, at ovulation, to their lowest, during menstruation, meaning that as you move through this day you may start to feel a bit less energised and start to experience common symptoms sometimes called "PMS." In the first half of this cycle you will likely have more energy to do energising low impact cardio, mat and reformer class. During the second half this phase your body benefits the most from restorative classes, like mat pilates, reformer style pilates and stretching as you get closer to menstruation. Check in with your body each day and give yourself permission to slow down and take more rest when needed. We want to eat lots of nourishing, blood sugar balancing meals in this phase to help keep energy levels stable and prevent cravings. It's a great time to slow down, practice self love and check in with yourself daily. If you want to learn more about any aspect of this phase, or tips to modify if your cycle is longer or shorter than 28 days, have a look at the Menstrual Phase section of the program guide book.
